Battle Of The Micellar Water’s

Hello again. We are now into September and shops are starting to get their Christmas items sent in and there big fluffy coats (fur coat on my list this year!). Over the last year or so I feel like the skin care world has exploded there’s micellar water for any problem out there. All the options out there both high end and drug store make it very difficult to know what’s worth the hype and what’s just a load of rubbish.

My skin is Normal/Oily and I suffer from spots on my skin, mainly just hormonal and stress. I will be doing a short write up about my experience with each product and also rating them out of 10. Obviously the opinions are my own so you might like the product I dislike, but I thought sharing my opinion may benefit some.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I went through a period of repurchasing this item every time I emptied the bottle. I wouldn’t say it does anything for my skin that actually benefits my skin in anyway, although it does remove my make up. However I do not think it’s the best for removing eye make up it is a very dry (if you can get a dry water). Although for you guys with oily skin out there this water would be great as there isn’t any oil, and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily like some make up removers does.

I would give this a 7/10.

Price: I think the price of the micellar water is very reasonable; it is always on offer in one drug store or another! It also lasts a while too, I always think getting the bigger bottles is worth it!

Simple Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water

I only bought this once, so for me that does say a lot. Like the Garnier water I don’t think it did a lot for my skin, I remember it being a lot more gentle than most Micellar Waters I have tried. I think if you suffer from sensitive skin then this one is calling your name, for me I wear a lot of make up daily so I need something with enough power to get every little bit off my skin!

I would give this a 6/10

Price: I always find simple products to be quite expensive, on boots website it is £4.95 at the moment which for a make up remover I find a little pricey.

Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Water Combination & Sensitive Skin

Garnier-Skin-Naturals-Micellar-Cleansing-Water-Combi-400ml-460800
Despite the fact I haven’t bought this one as much as the other Garnier water (pink), I do think this one is one of my favourites. Unlike the other micellar waters I find that this one is much better at removing eye make up. I love the feel it gives my face after using it, makes your skin feel very refreshed! However I don’t think if your skin is very dry then it may dry your skin out a little bit, but it does work in my favour. I do although find I need to moisturise a lot more when using this.

I would give this an 8/10

Price: Very much like the other Garnier water, its always-on offer somewhere. So the price does jump about a bit, always shop around if you are thinking about purchasing this.

Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Caring Micellar Water Dry Skin

Now I know what you’re thinking I don’t have dry skin… Buying this one was a total fault however it has worked in my favour, this one removes my make up better than any micellar water I have ever bought! It is a little oily but nothing too harsh for my oily skin, think it really helps removing my eye make up especially mascara! I am on I think my 4th bottle of this stuff and am yet to find something that matches up to it.

I would give this a 9/10

Price: I think that this product is the best price wise. It is usually around £2/3 for a large bottle (400ml) Savers, Boots and pound worlds always have this Micellar water in stock and it’s always on offer!
Thank you so much for reading this post it was a long one, let me know your favorite miceller waters I have a couple on my “to try list”.

Lush Halloween And Christmas Wish List

Now I am a lush addict and love near enough everything they create from bath bombs to hair masks you name it I will try it! I love the fact their products are not tested on animals and are ok for veggies and vegans to use!

After ready a couple of blog posts I have create my very own wish list for what I want to pick up next time I pop into store!

I have to admit I am not a huge fan of Halloween I am more of a Christmas type of girl. However I rather a nice bath with some goodies than a Halloween party any day!

img_2827

First item I found is the Pink Pumpkin, now I love pink and I love glitter so this is everything I like in a bath product. By looking at the product I think it’s going to smell quite feminine and floral with a zest of lemon in there too. Only thing I do now like about bubble bars is having to crumble it under the water and they turn out to be very messy and sometimes stain your baths so they require a little bleach… I am dying to get my hands on this little pink pumpkin but will definitely be cutting it up as £4.25 for a few bubbles is a little pricey, but its all about the novelty right?

img_2828-1Next up is the monsters ball, I think this bath bomb looks so cute! I love the detail that lush put into creating all their bath bombs. By the sounds of the ingredients of this bomb it sounds like it is going to be a very sweet scent so maybe stay away from this cutie if you’re not into sweet scents. I also find that the pink bombs are always the most pigmented in the water and always leave your bath a lovely colour! £4.50 is a bit on the dear side so I can imagine that this bath bomb is going to be a little bigger than your normal ball like bath bomb.

img_2829-1

The last thing that I liked the look of out of their Halloween range is the Pumpkin bath bomb I mainly think the look of this appeals to me the most! From looking at the ingredients I think the scent will be very spicy, almost pumpkin like! I am hoping that I do enjoy the scent of this one, as some brands can over do the “pumpkin” smell and thats way to strong for my little nose as I am more of a sweet scent type of person. However for the novelty of it I will definitely try this one out, like the previous bomb this one is £4.25 so hopefully a little larger than other bombs..

Now it’s time for my favourite season every and also my favourite season for lush products…. CHRISTMAS.

img_2830

Now I feel like you are either a snow fairy person or you aren’t and I certainly am! This year I am so excited that Lush have brought out so many snow fairy products, its really nice to see the scent used in more than two items as it is such a good seller. I am yet to try out one of the jelly bombs yet and have heard that they are a little messy but I think I can justify the mess for the scent? The price of this one is steep, £4.95 for a bomb, I think if I do pick this one up I will cut it up a bit.

img_2832Now this one that I got so bloody excited over “christmas sweater” put a cute reindeer on a product and some snow and you have your self a buyer! The name of this one appealed to me as well as the bomb its self, it just looks like such a warm bath bomb for a cold winters night. After looking at the ingredients to this bomb I was certainly correct, the scent is going to be quite spicy and strong so I would keep away if you’re only a fan of scents such as snow fairy. The price isn’t too bad on this one £4.50 for a christmas themed bomb.

img_2833

Now this one really caught my eye yet another brand new bomb from lush “thundersnow”. This is one for all you sweet scent lovers out there, on the website one staff member of lush has described it as “mint chocolate chip ice cream” now I cant even imagine my bath smelling of ice cream but I am more than happy to give this one a go. I don’t think lush have ever brought out something like this before especially around christmas time!

img_2834

Now I cannot remember if they did this particular bath bomb last christmas but the certainly did something similar. This bomb looks like it is going to be very sweet smelling, refreshing and also moisturising, which is something I would not of gathered from the name at all! I was imaging something warm and spicy but the complete opposite. So maybe if you take your baths in the morning then this will be a great way to start off your winter mornings.

img_2838

Another newbie by Lush is “Plum Snow” and I absolutely love the name already. Looking at the ingredients I think this one is going to be a bit of a mixture between sweet and spicy. No mention of plum in any of the ingredients but who knows until I actually sample one. Now this bubble bar is hella pricey £5.95 for some bubbles, so I think unless I am head over heals with this scent I might just give it a miss..

img_2841

Now this one is new to me I don’t know about Lush, but I have not heard of the Snow Fairy Body Conditioner. Now lush’s body and hair products I find to be very pricey for the amount you get and also messy as they do come in containers rather than squeezy bottles. However I feel like if you suffer with dry skin and you are a snow fairy fan then this will be right down your street!

img_2842

I need this in my life, I have no idea for the life of me what a cold pressed soap is but I know for sure that I want to try it out! Also I can justify the price for a soap as you do get more than one use out of it, and for the scent of snow fairy (heart eye emoji!). I also really love the design of this little gem its almost child like.

img_2843

What the hell is a sparkle jar? Don’t worry I had to research this one too by the sounds of the description it is a moisture bar that melts with heat (so on your skin). This sounds so indulgent and I can really imagine it to soften your skin and leave behind the lovely sweet scent of snow fairy and will probably leave some glitter.

Well that is all I am lusting and wishing I owned at the moment from Lush’s new halloween and christmas collections. Please let me know in the comments if you have tried any of their new bombs, melts or anything else Lush create! I hope you have enjoyed reading this post, I will be sure to do a haul soon when I visit Lush.

SkinKissed Vitamin C Serum Review

Hello everyone I hope you have all had a lovely week and a very relaxing Sunday. Today’s blog post is another skin care post, lately I have been investing into my skincare more than my make up as it is so important to look after your skin.

Since I started high school (many years ago now) I suffered from acne, dark circles and hyper pigmentation in certain areas of my face. I think I speak on behalf of so many young girls out there in saying that this can really ruin your confidence levels, especially as a young teen.

I just turned 20 this year and I am still suffering from all the above so you name it I have tried it! With my skin being oily too, I have found a lot of products to be to harsh or oily for my skin. A product I have recently discovered in the SunKissed Vitamin C Serum, many serums I have used before I have found to be very oily and sticky! So after reading glorious reviews and doin countless research I gave it a go!

How will I help your skin?

• Plums and hydrates dry and dull skin

• Removes any acne on your skin

• Reduces wrinkles, fine lines & blemishes

• Leaves your skin feeling soft & fresh again

• Makes your skin look young again

•  The perfect base for your makeup

How does it work?

Main active ingredients contain: Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid  + Collagen

Each one of these ingredients carry powerful benefits which are designed to help you achieve healthy and natural looking skin.

Why use skinkissed serum?

• 30-day money back guarantee if you are not pleased with my results

• Carries very powerful and high percentages of active ingredients

• Contains no oil, so you will not experience any skin breakouts

• Leave a nice fresh fragrance on your skin

Never been tested on animals

My Opinion/Results

I have not put this stuff down since getting it, and I find that very rare to say with a skin product especially serums. Unlike most this does not feel oily on my skin something that I really look for in a product, the consistency is very smooth and sinks into the skin quickly not leaving that sticky feeling.

It states on their website that the serum works well as a base to your make up so I decided to give this ago too. Works GREAT as a primer makes applying cream products such as concealer and foundation so easy as they just glide so nicely around your face. Really does help to keep my make up on all day long, as well as this it also has really helped the condition of my skin when I remove my make up. Usually my skin is really dry and looks so tired when I remove my make up at night, however when I use the skin kissed serum as a primer I am finding it very soft and radiant.

The picture on the left below is me on the first night of trying out the serum, my skin was very lifeless, dark under eyes and a lot of hyper pigmentation. The picture below on the right is me now, about a month later. I can easily see a difference in my skin, overall I think it looks a lot my radiant and “plumped”

The Skin Kissed Serum is £39.95 HERE . However check out there page on amazon as they have been having some AMAZING offers on there recently CLICK HERE to visit SkinKissed on Amazon. For 20% off your whole order use the code melissaljonesx-20

The Body Shop Tea Tree Sleep Mask – Review

Hello, I haven’t blogged much lately as I have been so busy with work. I love The Body Shop and especially their Tea Tree range so when they brought out a sleep mask I couldn’t resist!

How do you apply it?

To apply this mask I have been been using a flat foundation brush that I always use for normal face masks. I always make sure I clean the brush before and after use. The Body Shop do an application brush too!

How does it feel?

Like all Tea Tree products I personally find they can tingle if you have open blemishes. The product does do this but not uncomfortably more tingly only lasts a few seconds. Then the mask is a little sticky for about 5/10 minutes until it soaks into your face. Once it’s all soaked up in your skin my face always feels fresh and clean! The actual mask it’s self feels like jelly and you do have to brush it around your face to blend it in as it is a little clumping when you first apply it.

My results

I never ever see much improvement from any skin care I always take a picture before and never see any result however I have with this! I took the “before” selfie on the 24/08/17 and today when I took the “after” selfie is the 29/08/17 so in one week I have seen such a result! I have been using this every night not sure on how often you’re supposed to use it but I have had no trouble using it everyday.

As you can see in the above before and after pictures my blemishes and redness have reduced dramatically in the short period of time!

Do I recommend?

100% if you are someone like me that suffers from oily and spot prone skin then this is definitely a product to consider it retails at £12 and you only need the slightest bit so it will last a while!

Thank you so much for reading hope this blog post helps at least one of my readers out!

Soap And Glory PORE REFINING MASK – review

When I saw these on Soap and Glory’s Instagram I could not resist so I was straight to boots and picked up the Pore Refining Sheet mask. Recently sheet masks are blowing up and every brand is bring out one or five different types.

I have oily skin, with blemishes and very dull skin so I am always looking for a mask that doesn’t leave my face oily!

I have to admit when I first opened the mask I was highly disappointed, it was soaking wet. I found it difficult to separate as it kept sticking and slipping out my hands, after separating the mask I popped it on my face to find it did not fit my face at all. It just didn’t fit the sides of my nose and my cheeks.

HOWEVER….

Despite the disaster so far, I wore the mask for 15 minutes like the instructions tell you. At first it tingles a little when you first apply the sheet to your face like a toner does sometimes, not uncomfortable more refreshing!  The mask has a fresh and fruity scent to it but not over powering, nor irritating to the skin!

After taking the mask off I dapped my face with a cotton pad just to get the excess product off my face.

My face 1 hour later is still soft, moisturised and my pores have reduced in size RESULT!

Would I buy this again?

YES. Really loved the result of this product, certainly the best sheet mask I have tried would recommend it over some of the other well known brands in Boots. Let me know your favourite sheet masks and thank you for reading!

The Body Shop – Vineyard Peach Collection

Hello and happy Sunday, I am writing this in the past and should of been and gone to London by now. I thought with it being Sunday I would do a very chilled out post incase any of you felt like doing some sale shopping on a Sunday evening.

The body shop this summer came out with a range called Vineyard Peach which I was all over like a rash as peach is my favourite scent ever! I have noticed at the moment the body shop have deals on the peach range in store and online so thought it would be the perfect time to share my opinion with you! The collection has all the usual shower gel, body lotion, body butter just like every other scent you can get.

I didn’t get the FULL collection mainly because I do not need it all and it will hurt my bank balance. I did however manage to pick up the following

  • Body Butter
  • Body Lotion
  • Body Spray
  • Shower Gel

First up is my favourite product that the body shop do, there body butters! I haven’t used a good body butter in ages, and have started using this one every time I have a shower and I can honestly say its fantastic! I love fake tan so I apply this to my body before I apply my tan and it goes on so evenly, so theres a top tip for all you tanners out there. I also find it stops your tan from smelling horrible and strong! As for the consistency of the butter it is lovely and thick, so maybe not for you if you have oily skin but I have normal/dry especially on my legs and arms and find this solves all problems!

Next up is the Body Mist/spray, I love this as it means if I want the scent but haven’t got time to apply creams and butters I can quickly spray and I am good to go. As for how long it lasts I would say all day, I can defiantly still smell this on my clothes and skin throughout the whole day. The only thing I don’t like is that it is in a glass bottle and I wish it was in a plastic one so I could pop in in my handbag! Overall though I do really like this product!  Now for the product I have loved the most, I have purchased my second bottle of this shower gel I loved it that much. I find with shower gels you come out the shower and cannot smell it, with this one the smell stays with you for ages which I really like, it makes you feel lovely and fresh once you have used it. the gel is quite thick so you do not need much as it goes a long way.

Now for the last product that I own from this range, and the one I have not got much of a ‘review’ of. I think because I have been using the butter I haven’t thought about using this. However I have been using it in the mornings on my arms just to give me the peach scent. It leaves my arms feeling very soft. I like how it is not thick as it dries really quickly and feels very light. I will keep using this product and hopefully love it even more!

Well that is it for The Body Shop Vineyard Peach review, overall I have LOVED this range and hope they keep it all year round as it is such a beautiful scent. Defiantly check out the range as it was on sale last time I looked, as well as many other summer scents.

Thank you so much for reading don’t forget to follow my blog!

July Monthly Favourites

That's right I actually have some favourites this month! Happy Thursday hope you've all had a great July, other than suffering with the Florida blues I certainly have!

This month I have to admit I have bought a lot of new things from clothes, food to make up so this post may be a little varied but I'll get started.

Firstly I will start off with make up and Beauty favourites!

Eco Tools- over the past few months I have been trying out numerous Eco Tools brushes and I have to admit they are some of the best brushes I have ever tried. They are also very affordable too!

Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pomade- I am so late jumping on the bus with this product I know. However I cannot fault it, it is making my brows look 10x better than usual and really helping to get a definite shape!

The Body Shop Body Butter (vineyard peach)- I have been using this product before I apply my fake tan this month and I have honestly noticed a huge difference. My tan is going on my evenly and also lasting a lot long that it would without me using it!

Primark Pore Strips- that's right primark! These strips are absolutely amazing they are only £1 and definitely the best ones I have ever tried they are definitely worth trying out!

Pop bands- I had this recently in my Love Me Beauty box and I absolutely love it! It is a hair tie that doesn't leave a kink in your hair! Which works wonders for me as I have to sleep with my hair up. I totally recommend them!

Dove Deodorant- This is a weird one (I think), I have always been a sure girl. However this one was on offer so I grabbed it quick on my way to work one day and keep it in work for a refresh through the day. I can honestly say it is the freshest smelling deodorant I have ever used!

A bit of an odd beauty favourite I know, but I have been using these cotton pads from primark for about 3 months now and have got to say they are Fab!!! They're only 80p and they're the large ones so you can get more make up off with one!

For me nail varnish is a rare favourite just because I usually wear acrylics but totally amazed by Primark's Nail Varnish's. I work in retail so I am always using my hands the polish lasted a good 3 days without chipping!

Now it's time for my random favourites and there is quite a few this month!

Wilde Like Me by Louise Pentland- A YouTuber I have grow up watching! Recently Louise brought out a book and I am usually not one for YouTubers books but this one I just had to read! So glad I did too, it's on offer £5 in Tesco for the hard back and I read it in just under a week. Such a fantastic read and I am dying for the second one to come out!

Storage draws- I have a tiny room so best keep dreaming about fitting Alex draws in them to store my make up in. So opted for something to go under my dressing table out of the way but still look tidy to keep all my bits in! These have been a godsend they fit my make up pallets in all my skin care too! They are from Argos £19.99.

That's all for my monthly favourites this month let me know what you've been loving this month!

Check out my Instagram to see what I've been buying – @melissaljonesx
