Battle Of The Micellar Water’s

Hello again. We are now into September and shops are starting to get their Christmas items sent in and there big fluffy coats (fur coat on my list this year!). Over the last year or so I feel like the skin care world has exploded there’s micellar water for any problem out there. All the options out there both high end and drug store make it very difficult to know what’s worth the hype and what’s just a load of rubbish.

My skin is Normal/Oily and I suffer from spots on my skin, mainly just hormonal and stress. I will be doing a short write up about my experience with each product and also rating them out of 10. Obviously the opinions are my own so you might like the product I dislike, but I thought sharing my opinion may benefit some.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I went through a period of repurchasing this item every time I emptied the bottle. I wouldn’t say it does anything for my skin that actually benefits my skin in anyway, although it does remove my make up. However I do not think it’s the best for removing eye make up it is a very dry (if you can get a dry water). Although for you guys with oily skin out there this water would be great as there isn’t any oil, and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily like some make up removers does.

I would give this a 7/10.

Price: I think the price of the micellar water is very reasonable; it is always on offer in one drug store or another! It also lasts a while too, I always think getting the bigger bottles is worth it!

Simple Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water

I only bought this once, so for me that does say a lot. Like the Garnier water I don’t think it did a lot for my skin, I remember it being a lot more gentle than most Micellar Waters I have tried. I think if you suffer from sensitive skin then this one is calling your name, for me I wear a lot of make up daily so I need something with enough power to get every little bit off my skin!

I would give this a 6/10

Price: I always find simple products to be quite expensive, on boots website it is £4.95 at the moment which for a make up remover I find a little pricey.

Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Water Combination & Sensitive Skin

Garnier-Skin-Naturals-Micellar-Cleansing-Water-Combi-400ml-460800
Despite the fact I haven’t bought this one as much as the other Garnier water (pink), I do think this one is one of my favourites. Unlike the other micellar waters I find that this one is much better at removing eye make up. I love the feel it gives my face after using it, makes your skin feel very refreshed! However I don’t think if your skin is very dry then it may dry your skin out a little bit, but it does work in my favour. I do although find I need to moisturise a lot more when using this.

I would give this an 8/10

Price: Very much like the other Garnier water, its always-on offer somewhere. So the price does jump about a bit, always shop around if you are thinking about purchasing this.

Now I know what you’re thinking I don’t have dry skin… Buying this one was a total fault however it has worked in my favour, this one removes my make up better than any micellar water I have ever bought! It is a little oily but nothing too harsh for my oily skin, think it really helps removing my eye make up especially mascara! I am on I think my 4th bottle of this stuff and am yet to find something that matches up to it.

I would give this a 9/10

Price: I think that this product is the best price wise. It is usually around £2/3 for a large bottle (400ml) Savers, Boots and pound worlds always have this Micellar water in stock and it’s always on offer!
Thank you so much for reading this post it was a long one, let me know your favorite miceller waters I have a couple on my “to try list”.

Primark Beauty – is it worth it?

Hello! Now a subject everyone is curious of is Primark and their venture into the beauty world! They are selling everything these days from pore strips to nail varnish and I am curious myself to know what everything is like, so let’s get started.

First thing I wanted to get my hands on are the PS nose pore strips, these were jut £1 for 4 strips!

BRILLIANT! These pull everything right out, I’ve used all sorts of brands when it comes to pore strips and these are by far the best, stomp all over Sephora Pore Strips! The only downfall is they do hurt to peel off and they leave a little white residue around you nose. However it does come straight off with water!

I have tested so many pore strips recently and these are the best by far.

9/10

Sili Sponge, something that everyone is raving about at the moment so for £2 I had to test it out! Used it today for the first time with my foundation. I think these are defiantly not a product for a make up newbie as they are quite difficult to get to grips with.

You need next to no foundation when using these babies as they will smear the littlest bit of foundation all over your face. I would say for someone who has a little more time when doing their make up then its a great way of saving on foundation as a little goes a long way.. However you still need to blend it out with either a brush or beauty blender!

6/10

If you read my blog then you will know that I love a good highlight, so when I saw these for £3 I just couldn’t leave them there! I never usually go for crayons I am more of a powder gal but who knows if I don’t try right?

After some testing these have become my best friends when doing eye make up looks, they look amazing on the brow bone and also on the inner corners of the eye!

8/10

Sticking to the same pattern, another highlighting stick the colour is very pinky and at the moment I am loving a pink highlight.

The only thing I am finding with stick highlighters is that they require a little more effort than you usual powder ones. As you do need to blend them in after you have swiped them over your cheek bones etc.

8/10

Can’t say no to nude colour nail polish am I right? I could not leave these colours there they are gorgeous 1 mauve pink a 1 nude/purple and 1 creamy colour.

I work in retail so it’s quite hands on meaning nail varnish doesn’t last very long on me because I am constantly using my hand. However I am bloody loving these I think for the price of them you cannot go wrong they last around a week for me just like all nail varnishes.

The pigmentation in the colours is great too. I usually have to do around two coats like I do with all nude colours, so I am impressed.

9/10

Brushes! I think with brushes you can either fail or win there isn’t an in between, as I was strolling round the make up I stubbled upon a small sale section and was instantly sucked in!

I bought a couple one from their trolls range and the other set was just a normal set of brushes. I can happily say I am impressed, for the price of these you just cannot go wrong I would say if you are new to make up and want some cheapy brushes just to have a play about with then these are for you! Also really good for your handbag save taking out your expensive brushes as there is nothing worse than either losing or breaking an expensive brush!

Something that has become my everyday favourite from Primark. Sounds very silly as they’re only cotton pads but I really like the size of these not just the size of the pad also the amount you get in them as I do use 2/3 a day to get off my eye make up. For 90p you cannot go wrong when boots and other drug stores are charging £2 ish for this size and many.

Let me know if there are any Primark beauty products that you are loving in the comments! Thank you for reading don’t forget to follow!

SkinKissed Vitamin C Serum Review

Hello everyone I hope you have all had a lovely week and a very relaxing Sunday. Today’s blog post is another skin care post, lately I have been investing into my skincare more than my make up as it is so important to look after your skin.

Since I started high school (many years ago now) I suffered from acne, dark circles and hyper pigmentation in certain areas of my face. I think I speak on behalf of so many young girls out there in saying that this can really ruin your confidence levels, especially as a young teen.

I just turned 20 this year and I am still suffering from all the above so you name it I have tried it! With my skin being oily too, I have found a lot of products to be to harsh or oily for my skin. A product I have recently discovered in the SunKissed Vitamin C Serum, many serums I have used before I have found to be very oily and sticky! So after reading glorious reviews and doin countless research I gave it a go!

How will I help your skin?

• Plums and hydrates dry and dull skin

• Removes any acne on your skin

• Reduces wrinkles, fine lines & blemishes

• Leaves your skin feeling soft & fresh again

• Makes your skin look young again

•  The perfect base for your makeup

How does it work?

Main active ingredients contain: Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid  + Collagen

Each one of these ingredients carry powerful benefits which are designed to help you achieve healthy and natural looking skin.

Why use skinkissed serum?

• 30-day money back guarantee if you are not pleased with my results

• Carries very powerful and high percentages of active ingredients

• Contains no oil, so you will not experience any skin breakouts

• Leave a nice fresh fragrance on your skin

Never been tested on animals

My Opinion/Results

I have not put this stuff down since getting it, and I find that very rare to say with a skin product especially serums. Unlike most this does not feel oily on my skin something that I really look for in a product, the consistency is very smooth and sinks into the skin quickly not leaving that sticky feeling.

It states on their website that the serum works well as a base to your make up so I decided to give this ago too. Works GREAT as a primer makes applying cream products such as concealer and foundation so easy as they just glide so nicely around your face. Really does help to keep my make up on all day long, as well as this it also has really helped the condition of my skin when I remove my make up. Usually my skin is really dry and looks so tired when I remove my make up at night, however when I use the skin kissed serum as a primer I am finding it very soft and radiant.

The picture on the left below is me on the first night of trying out the serum, my skin was very lifeless, dark under eyes and a lot of hyper pigmentation. The picture below on the right is me now, about a month later. I can easily see a difference in my skin, overall I think it looks a lot my radiant and “plumped”

The Skin Kissed Serum is £39.95 HERE . However check out there page on amazon as they have been having some AMAZING offers on there recently CLICK HERE to visit SkinKissed on Amazon. For 20% off your whole order use the code melissaljonesx-20

Soap And Glory PORE REFINING MASK – review

When I saw these on Soap and Glory’s Instagram I could not resist so I was straight to boots and picked up the Pore Refining Sheet mask. Recently sheet masks are blowing up and every brand is bring out one or five different types.

I have oily skin, with blemishes and very dull skin so I am always looking for a mask that doesn’t leave my face oily!

I have to admit when I first opened the mask I was highly disappointed, it was soaking wet. I found it difficult to separate as it kept sticking and slipping out my hands, after separating the mask I popped it on my face to find it did not fit my face at all. It just didn’t fit the sides of my nose and my cheeks.

HOWEVER….

Despite the disaster so far, I wore the mask for 15 minutes like the instructions tell you. At first it tingles a little when you first apply the sheet to your face like a toner does sometimes, not uncomfortable more refreshing!  The mask has a fresh and fruity scent to it but not over powering, nor irritating to the skin!

After taking the mask off I dapped my face with a cotton pad just to get the excess product off my face.

My face 1 hour later is still soft, moisturised and my pores have reduced in size RESULT!

Would I buy this again?

YES. Really loved the result of this product, certainly the best sheet mask I have tried would recommend it over some of the other well known brands in Boots. Let me know your favourite sheet masks and thank you for reading!

Love Me Beauty – June

Hello I am back, very tired, jet lagged and a little tanned I think the only way I can keep myself awake is to write this blog post! So todays post is going to be the June Love Me Beauty June bag/box, for those of you that are not familiar Love Me Beauty is a monthly subscription box where you pick what you want!

If you want to read more about the box then click here.

Any way I will get started this month I had extra credits to use so I got a little more than usually, but yet again I am so happy with the product quality. I got 5 products this month and a make up bag.

First Product I picked was the Eco Tools six piece day to night set, if you read my reviews each month then you will know how much I love the Eco Tools brushes that are available on love me beauty. This set comes with an angled face brush, pointed concealer brush, highlighting fan brush, eye shadow brush and a lip liner brush and also comes in a make up bag!19224874_1382753128470941_841660180065177837_n.jpg

Next thing I picked up was a Pop Band  I have heard really good things about these, if you don’t know what they are its a hair bobble. They are supposed to be gentle on your hair, going to start using them to sleep in.

19275225_1382752441804343_6314724575828836049_n.jpg

Next thing I picked was a detox mask by caudalie, never heard of this brand before but I love a good detox mask. The packaging is great very sturdy and its 15ml which I think is a good size for a sample product.

19396770_1382660051813582_5673031061545693834_n

The 4th product I chose this month was more brushes, I much rather receive tools as I grudge paying for them otherwise. This set is a little travel set and consists of a Powder and a foundation brush, I love travel size brushed as they don’t take up much room in your bag! Again these as Eco Tools so I know I will love them.

The Last product I picked up was mainly to test the brand itself they are Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips (press on lip stick), I have seen nothing but good things about CT and would love a good nude lipstick from there but want to see if they stay on all day! (any recommendations let me know!)

The Best And Worst Skin Care For Oily Skin!

Hello! At the moment I am so obsessed with skin care and trying to make it look the best it has! This post is in collaboration with Julia I am going to tell you my best and worst for Oily skin and if you go visit Julia’s blog if you suffer with dry skin!

I have suffered with oily/spot prone skin since I was about 12/13, so I have tried out my fair share of face washes, scrubs and masks from drug store and high end products! Obviously everyones skin is different these may or may not work on my skin and might not on yours! So lets get started..

BEST

  • The Body Shop Tea Tree face wash- I have done a full review on this so click here to read more, but this is by far my favourite product for my oily/spot prone skin. I feel as if this products calms my skin helping ease my spots and clean my face! I suffer with hormonal break outs and I use this everyday and it certainly helps reduce the pain/size of the spots. It is only £6 from the body shop, they have a range of products if the face wash is not for you.img_0524
  • L’oreal Charcoal mask- Now I have tried majority of the charcoal masks available in boots, and this one if by far the best! You can see results straight after the first use, I find this mask helps to purify my skin and really helps unclog my pores! Depending on where you buy this from it ranges from £5-£7, I have hardly used any of mine a little goes a long way.18556320_1348311915248396_2227007549030620367_n
  • Benefit Boo Boo Zap- If you suffer from “teenage spots” then this one is for you, you know the big red spots that take up your whole cheek for about a week! I used to swear by this product, it helps reduce the redness and swelling of your blemishes. Its such an easy product to use, you just dab a bit on your finger and apply to the blemish! Its £14 from boots so a little pricer but you only need a little bit so lasts a while.Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

WORST

  • Sanctuary Spa warming Detox Charcoal Mask- I was so excited to try this product day after I instantly regretted it, I broke out with so many spots after using this mask! I only bought a sample size which was about £2/3. I really don’t recommend using this if you suffer from blemishes! Didn’t do anything to my face and also burnt my face.
  • Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Treatment Gel- I bought this in a trio where I had a toner and face wash too and was so disappointed it just did nothing for my skin. I have always found Clean and Clear to sting my face when using it especially on blemishes! This product didn’t break me out but its supposed to ease your spots and it didn’t do anything to mine.img_0746
  • Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Pads- People always rave about Clearasil being a good brand. However I think it does nothing for my face like clean and clear it always tends to sting my skin on application, then leaves my skin feeling really oily! These are ok if you want something to freshen your skin up mid day but not as a spot/ oily skin treatment.

img_0747

Oily Skin DO’s

  • Try and have no make up days, this really helps your skin, so be confident and have a few no make up days.
  • Take your make up off to work out!
  • Don’t avoid moisturising, your skin will become dry with too many spot products.

Oily Skin DONTs

  • Avoid the tooth paste myth, some believe it helps whereas it really doesn’t all it does is irritate your skin and causes peeling
  • Wash your face with water instead of using face wipes as more pure!
  • Don’t overload on products, don’t be using 10 spot products on your skin at once as the more products the more chemicals are on your face!

_______________________________________________________________________

That is all for my Best and Worst products for Oily Skin, If you suffer from dry skin the jump over to Julia’s blog to view her post! Let me know what you love skincare wise!

Thanks for reading.
